Meet the team - Charles

Today we meet Charles, the joint managing director of Oxygène Immobilier. Take a 5 minute break, grab a coffee and get to know a little more about him here...

Name: Charles de Monvallier

Position: Managing director. I specialise in sales and property management.

Years in company: 18

Relevant industry experience/accomplishment: I studied Real Estate Management at university, and learnt all about the legal, marketing and commercial aspects of this industry.

How long have you been in La Plagne? 38 years.

Where is your favourite place to eat in resort (and why)? I don’t have just 1, can I choose 3? Yes, ok, (1) Le Petit Comptoir in Plagne Centre, the best place for delicious freshly cooked food. They don’t even have a microwave, everything is that fresh! (2) Cocoon Grill in Plagne 1800, you privatise your own wooden ‘cocoon’ in the mountains for a full blown meat feast and on the slopes it has to be (3) Les Inversens, at the top of Roche de Mio, for the best view in town. Oxygène Ski School do a Moonlight Ski evening here, contact them for more information!

Do you ski, snowboard or both? Both, but I prefer skiing.

Which is your favourite piste to ski/snowboard down (and why)? The Mont De La Guerre - this slope has it all! It’s long and goes from wide open spaces with incredible views to quaint picturesque forest runs. You have to try it at least once during your holiday in La Plagne (read our Best Pistes in La Plagne article here).

What’s the best thing about working at Oxygène Immobilier (and why)? This job is very interesting and keeps me on my feet, however the best bit of my job has to be meeting lots of people from all over the world.

How do you like to start your day? An early morning ski touring session is perfect for starting my day. Once I arrive at the top of the Grande Rochette in time to see the sunrise, I know the day is going to be good. Again Oxygène Ski School offer early morning ski touring sessions with equipment included, contact them directly…

What was your first job? I was a commis chef and pot washer during a summer for a restaurant in La Plagne when I was 16 years old.

What led you to this career? My family - Sybil is my sister (not my wife as many may think). Also,  when I was younger my parents had a real estate agency, so it just felt natural to do this job.

Fun fact about yourself? I was a semi-professional rugby player and I have climbed to the top of the Mont Blanc on skis (see photo above).
