What’s new in La Plagne for this winter 2021-22?

So, as you all know our past 2 winters have suffered somewhat due to Covid. La Plagne officially opens it’s doors on Saturday 11th December. I think we are all glad to say goodbye to Covid and hello winter 2021-22. Here are our highlights.

On the Slopes

We now have a brand new chair lift in Plagne Centre called the Lovatière. It is a high-speed 6 seater going from just next to the bottom of the Becoin chairlift (1990m) all the way to the top of the Verdons (2479m). It provides easier access from Plagne Centre to the Champagny ski area.

It takes only 5 and a half minutes all the way to the top, and can carry up to 3000 passenger p/hour. Beforehand you would have had to either take the Funiplagne Grand Rochette or Coloardo lifts and then ski down to the old Verdons Nord chairlift, taking this back up to the top, taking at least 30 minutes in total.

The Plagne Centre snow front has also changed and the old SAP building, that was originally next to the baby slope with the drag lift, has now disappeared. In fact the new ski slope comes down here, creating easier access and smoother fluidity when skiing across Plagne Centre.

Along with this the baby slope has changed place too, now being called the Red Indians! You’ll find it next to the Funiplagne Grande Rochette. There's no longer a drag lift and instead has a covered magic carpet making it ideal for you little ones. Afterwards, there is a small Coolski area on the opposite side helping build confidence before venturing onto the chairlifts.

Talking about the Funiplagne, well the departure station in Plagne Centre has had a complete makeover. It’s been modernised and now offers easier access with a better queueing system, plus there are brand new accessible toilets for everyone.

Also, not sure if you knew before, however last year a 2nd Funslope called the Buffalo Park was created. You’ll find it as you come down the right from the top of the Colorado chair lift.

For the self driving cheese lovers you can purchase Beaufort cheese 24/7 from the cheese vending machine in Aime at the bottom of the valley. So as you drive through the village of Aime don’t forget to stop off and stock up!

Due to Covid and possible dinning complications the on-slope restaurant The Chalet de Plan Bois, located in Montchavin-Les Coches, has adapted their dining concept for this winter. They are offering a limited edition experience, reducing the original capacity of 140 places down to only 23.

All guests get to feel like they are at home in one of the 4 themed dining rooms. There is a set menu with locally produced and freshly cooked food. Book now before it’s too late!

Memorabila

It’s a big year in La Plagne this season La Plagne is celebrating its 60th Birthday in December! Not only that but Plagne 1800 is 50 years old and Montalbert/Les Coches is 40.

To celebrate the La Plagne Torist Office has created a number of different memorabilia that you can take home with you. For example, you can continue smelling La Plagne in your home with the Inoubliable home fragrance created by 100BON and there is a fantastic Where’s Wally styled children’s book that will keep your little ones entertained throughout the holiday. The La Plagne Tourist Office can provide more information.

Last but not least, there is a new artist in town called Miloutje. The concept is La Plagne in a cartoon world. Have a look at the Facebook page, follow, like and get in contact if you see anything you want!

See you in La Plagne very soon...
