In December 1961, La Plagne opened with only 2 drag lifts, 4 ski slopes and 200 beds.

- Plagne Centre
Plagne Centre only got it’s name in 1982, beforehand it was simply know as La Plagne.



2. How many resort villages make up the La Plagne ski area?

It look 41 years in total for all of the villages to be created.

Belle Plagne, designed by Michael Bezançon, is a village classified as a 4th generation of ski resort architecture and it marked the return of the typical quaint Savoyard chalet design in La Plagne.

- Plagne Soleil 
Built to coincided with the Albertville Winter Olympics in 1992, Plagne Soleil was infact one of the Olympic villages.

Les Arcs, our neighbouring ski resort was created in 1973, but it was only 30 years later that we managed to join forces and create the immense Paradiski ski domain.

- The Vanoise Express 
The Vanoise Express can carry 200 people in each cable car. It takes only 4 minutes for the cabin to cross from one side to the other, carrying up to 400 people every 12 minutes.

In La Plagne there is a total of 225km of ski slopes and a shed load more of off piste.

- The Bellecôte North Face
It has one of the longest vertical skiable descents in the world. In it’s best conditions you can ski over 2000 meters of vertical decent, from the top of the Bellecôte Glacier (3417 meters) to Peisey Nancroix (1310 meters).

Created 5 years after the resort opened by artist Mathieu Diesse on a French TV show called Interneiges in 1966. The original logo was a smiling sun.

Kevin Rolland won Bronze in mens ski halfpipe during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic games.

- The Dou du Praz
The Dou du Praz is located above Plagne Soleil/ Village. It is the mountain peak between Plagne Centre and Bellcôte/Belle Plagne. You can enjoy wonderful walks around this area. It is very popular with cross-country skiers and you can go even go on a husky dog sledge ride here too.
